StamfordPlus.com News - Strong Women Strong Bones fitness classes

Starting October 29th, New Milford Hospital will offer the next series of Strong Women Strong Bones, a national, evidence based fitness program designed to prevent and reverse osteoporosis/osteopinea and promote general health and wellness. Each session affords seven weeks (two classes per week) of exercise targeted to middle-aged and older women to increase strength, balance and flexibility, and is appropriate for both sedentary and active women.

The next series of seven week classes begin on the following dates and locations:

New Milford Congregational Church

Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:30-6:45 p.m.

October 29th ? December 12th

Mondays & Fridays, 10:00-11:45 a.m.

October 29th ?December 14th

Washington Depot Senior Center

Mondays & Wednesdays, 2:00-3:15 p.m.

October 29th to December 12th

The cost is $85 for seven weeks of classes, and the fee is pro-rated if you plan to join mid-session.

About the Program

Strong Women? Strong Bones is a nationally recognized fitness program led by Tufts University instructor Lisa Marie Lee. Health and wellness benefits include arthritis relief, restoration of balance and flexibility, strengthening of bones, proper weight maintenance, and improved glucose control and heart health.

About the Instructor

Lisa Marie Lee is a certified yoga instructor and massage therapist. She completed the Tufts University Strong Women training in 2004, and served as a Strong Women Program leader at Hartford Hospital for several years.
